Standard ArcPit vs ArcPit XL: which should you choose?
The Standard ArcPit weighs 11.7kg and is listed for tyres up to 305mm wide. The ArcPit XL weighs 14.8kg and is listed for tyres up to 324mm wide. Start with your actual tyre dimensions and mounting clearance, then check the product specification. Choosing the larger model alone does not confirm fitment.

Specifications checked against ArcMate's product pages on 1 October 2026. *ArcMate's Standard page uses both 304mm and 305mm in different sections. Confirm fitment with APC4WD if your tyre is near the limit; also check the carrier's load capacity and surrounding clearance.
If you have a larger touring vehicle, APC4WD also lists the ArcPit XXL Combo Kit. Check its own specifications and kit contents rather than applying the Standard or XL measurements to it.
Check your spare tyre setup before ordering
- Record the tyre size. Read the full size printed on the tyre sidewall.
- Check clearance. Consider nearby bodywork, spare wheel accessories and access to doors or storage.
- Check the carrier's capacity. Account for the fire pit's additional weight using your vehicle or carrier manufacturer's guidance.
- Plan transport and storage. Follow ArcMate's securing instructions and let the pit cool fully before loading it.
- Ask APC4WD if anything is unclear. Have your tyre size and setup details ready when you call.
For caravans and camper trailers, do the same checks on their spare tyre and mounting hardware. If the pit needs to share that space with other gear, work through the clearance before purchasing.
Which ArcMate accessories should you buy first?
Start with what you like eating at camp. A simple breakfast and barbecue setup needs different gear from a roast dinner or pizza night. Choose the accessories you will use regularly, then check their compatibility with your fire pit model.
For breakfasts and barbecue dinners
Compare the ArcMate BBQ Plate and BBQ Grill. A plate gives you a solid cooking surface; a grill provides an open cooking surface. Think about whether your usual camp menu calls for eggs and chopped vegetables, grilled meals, or a mix of both.
For rotisserie cooking
Look at the ArcMate BBQ Rotisserie Battery Kit and check the mounting requirements and included parts. APC4WD also lists Rotisserie Brackets separately. Check what your kit already includes before adding parts to the order.
For pizza nights and charcoal cooking
Explore the ArcMate Pizza Oven if pizza is part of your camp menu. For a charcoal setup, check the Charcoal Grate and Charcoal Starter. Read the individual operating instructions before deciding how each accessory fits into your cooking routine.
For an organised touring setup
Add suitable storage for the gear you choose. APC4WD lists a Plate Bag, Rotisserie Bag and Leg Extender Bag. Keeping the pieces together makes it easier to check your packing list before departure.
Do you need ArcPit leg extenders?
Consider the ArcPit Leg Extenders if you need an elevated setup. Select the version that suits your pit and check the campsite's requirements before the trip. Leg extenders do not automatically make a campfire permitted: restrictions vary by location and conditions.
